Hi! I’m Katrina. I am a designer and artist living in beautiful, weird and funky, Austin, TX. I am a late in life, self-taught artist and it took me about 40 years to accept my fate and yell it out loud — “I”M AN ARTIST!” I really just can’t stop creating, designing, coloring, painting, drawing, and rearranging the furniture. My hubby thinks I have commitment issues because I like to rearrange the furniture every few weeks. I really don’t have commitment issues, I’m a Scorpio and therefore very loyal, but intense. And geeky, goofy, funny and smart.

My day job is a Principal User Experience Architect at TandemSeven making the web and mobile intuitive and beautiful. So, I admit, I did go to school for design. I have a degree in Human Computer Interaction. What’s that you say? Well, it’s a combo of technology, psychology and design. I have a passion for designing software that is easy to use, simple, and useful for the people who are actually going to use it.

Please shoot me an email if you would like to talk shop!

In my spare time, which isn’t much these days with 2 young children running around, I create art, design surface patterns, paint, refinish furniture, make art and crafts, sew, take photographs with instagram and my Nikon, and decorate my home. I also love yoga, have a love/hate relationship with running and enjoy playing in the back yard with my kids watching my hubby putz around in the garden.

I am a big music fan, and have been to Austin City Limits three times now.  My favorite bands right now are… Oh, who am I kidding, I like so many! Right now I am listening to Phantogram, Silversun Pickups, the Local Natives, Madonna, Dave Matthews band, and Miike Snow to name a few. I saw The Cure at ACL last year and it was spectacular, they were my first alternative music love.

I am an avid reader, but since I’ve had kids, that has really taken a back seat. My latest big addiction though is shopping at the awesome thrift stores in Austin for some sweet finds to decorate my home. Most days you will find me spray painting some new find, designing a new surface pattern for a Spoonflower contest, or making something for a friend. It’s great to meet you and thanks for visiting!
